Nutrilicious . . .

That's the word that we use to describe our menu.

"Hut-K" is a modern colloquial Indian term that means "not the mainstream" or "different" and “Chaats” are savory Indian street food known for their multitudes of tastes and flavors in a single bite. In addition, chaat dish have a distinct feel or crunch to it. Together, the experience of taste, flavors and feel, we at Hut-K, would like to describe it as the “Party In Mouth”.

Unfortunately, these delicious dishes were never known for their nutrition. So for the first Hut-K make over, we turned our attention to Chaat Food.

Our goals were simple:

  1. To reduce added sugar and replace them with sweetness from fresh and dry fruits.

  2. To add nutrition of fresh greens, nuts, dry fruits, fresh fruits and whole grains.

  3. Minimize the fried food by either replacing them with baked version or removing excess oil by post processing of food

We have modified the chaat sauces so that they now provide additional nutrition in form of raw food, like spinach, cilantro, mint, dates, mangoes, lime. We have also eliminated added sugar as the sweetener replacing them with natural sweetness from dates.

We have significantly reduced the fried food; for example, the papdi, a deep fried white flour based crisp bread traditionally used in papdi chaat or masala puri is now replaced with Hut-K special papdi that are multi grain and baked.

With these changes Hut-K now provides nutrition in food that was only known for its taste. This is the platform on which we call our food nutrilicious.

In our effort to move towards fresh-healthy eating, we at Hut-K, have also created many new dishes with no parallels in Indian or other cusines. Hut-K wrap rolls are created using sauces that do not have any added oil or sugar. And are made from raw fresh greens and fruits, dry fruits, and vegetables.

Close to our hearts is the creation of a whole grain food series called Hut-K Back2Roots. It is currently made from 13 different kinds of whole grains and seeds. These include African Millet, Pearl/Ethopian Millet, Organic Quinoa, Organic Wild Rice, Organic Barley, Sorghum, Organic Flax, Organic Sesame, Organic Amaranth, Organic Wheat, Organic Rice, Organic Oats and Organic Rye. These grains are prepared in a manner in which we obtain the best nutrition and the majority of them are intact whole grains and not pulverized into flour. And whenever possible we source our ingredients locally.

We invite you to a Hut-K culinary experience of flavors, tastes, nutrition and healing at our Packard Rd and Mark’s Cart locations.
